Job summary

Crisis Skylight Merseyside is seeking a Lead Coach Worker to support individuals facing homelessness or at risk. You will manage a caseload, develop personalised plans, and help clients access housing and support services.

This role emphasizes collaborative, psychologically informed approaches within a supportive team. The position requires experience in coaching and case management, strong communication, and the ability to work with external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about ending homelessness sustainably.
  • Experience accessing housing via private rented sector, local authorities, housing associations and others.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting homeless people: housing, welfare, trauma, substance use, criminal justice, social isolation.
  • Proven track record using coaching, IAG or psychologically informed approaches with homelessness.
  • Ability to manage relationships with external agencies and advocate for members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, records in Case Management Systems/databases.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong team player with initiative.

  • Lead caseload and provide effective case management in line with the Crisis Case Management Framework.
  • Support members to develop and follow a personalised plan to end homelessness sustainably.
  • Empower members to search for housing and access other relevant support services.

Job description

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Crisis Skylight Merseyside offer direct services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Alongside our frontline service offer, we develop and lead strategy and partnership projects to deliver positive change for homeless people in Merseyside.

Location: Crisis Skylight Merseyside, 96 Kent Street, L1 5BD

Hours: 35 per week between the hours of 8.30am – 5pm

Contract: Fixed Term - 6 months

About The Role

As a Coach Lead Worker in the Coaching team, you will play a key role in supporting individuals that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will work with people who have varying levels of engagement with the service: some will work with you in a more planned and structured way, and some are in more complex situations and will require support from other agencies.

As a Lead Worker You Will
  • Support members to develop and follow a personalised plan to end their homelessness sustainably.
  • Empower and upskill members to be proactive in their accommodation search and access other relevant support services to meet their needs.
  • Provide support with practical aspects of their route out of homeless, including access to housing, benefits, and other relevant needs.
  • Lead Work a caseload and provide effective case management in line with the Crisis Case Management Framework.

The key to success will be your ability to make collaborative, consistent and psychologically informed relationships with members, services, colleagues, and partner organisations.

Skills, knowledge, and experience vital to succeeding in this role:

  • Passionate about and dedicated to ending homelessness sustainably.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of accessing housing via private rented sector, local authorities, housing associations, supported providers and others.
  • Good knowledge of issues affecting homeless people, including housing, welfare issues, trauma, substance use, involvement in criminal justice services, and social isolation
  • Proven track record of successfully using coaching, IAG or psychologically informed approaches with people who have experienced homelessness.
  • Ability to manage successful relationships with external agencies and relevant service providers and successfully advocate on members behalf.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills used to ensure accurate record keeping on a variety of Case Management Systems/Databases.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong team player, able to use own initiative and reflect on your own practice.
