Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow in Leeds is seeking a full-time Building Surveyor to join our busy team. You will inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance and refurbishment of buildings across residential and commercial projects.

The role supports the surveying team by preparing reports, schedules of work and specifications while ensuring compliance with health & safety, party wall and building regulations. This is a client-facing opportunity with growth potential.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying.
• Experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures.
• Experience in Defect Diagnosis and report writing.
• Insurance repair project experience preferred.
• Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects.
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation.
• Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and the ability to think methodically to problem solve.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and Variable Attitude to work type.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
• Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
• To prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
• To design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and to current technical standards.
• To understand and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
• To help promote the company’s services and secure projects.
• At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
