Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to support the Line Manager and manage projects within authority, providing guidance to the team across surveying, design and regulatory tasks.

You will inspect, report and manage large value projects while applying health & safety, party wall, and planning regulations. The role includes mentoring Graduates and Building Surveyors, with opportunities for professional development and progression.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons in Building Surveying and awareness of statutory requirements.
• Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing.
• Experience on large-scale projects with deadlines and budgets.
• Insurance repair project experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CDM Regs 2015 and building regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• IT skills and ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings and sites.
• Inspections including acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
• Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
• Undertake large value projects independently with knowledge of professional consultancy services.
• Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and current standards.
• Understand and apply health & safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
• Promote the company’s services to secure projects and the Smithers Purslow brand.
• Supervise and support Graduates and Building Surveyors.
• Comply with the Company’s procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
