Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow in Nottingham is seeking a full-time Building Surveyor to join our growing Midlands team. The role covers residential and commercial buildings and involves supporting the surveying group and mentoring junior staff.

You will inspect designs, prepare schedules of work, reports and specifications, and manage projects within your authority while applying CDM 2015, Party Wall, and Building Regulations.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying with awareness of latest statutory requirements and technical publications.
• Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing; insurance repair project experience preferred.
• Experience working to deadlines and budgets on large-scale projects.
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation.
• Strong mathematical, scientific and IT skills; ability to problem-solve.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and variable attitude to work type.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of buildings.
• Inspections incl. acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations.
• Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications.
• Design and oversee works using building contracts and current standards.
• Apply relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning.
• Promote company services and secure projects.
