Job summary

Stevenage Borough Council is seeking a Project Building Surveyor in Stevenage to lead the specification and management of works for lettable homes and to minimise voids and rental loss while delivering projects on time and safely.

The role requires knowledge of building construction and health and safety compliance, with 37-hour weeks and a fixed term contract of two years. Applications close 1 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload.
• Ability to build effective working relationships.
• Knowledge of building construction and health and safety requirements/legislation.

Responsibilities

• The specification and management of works to ensure all homes offered for letting meet the council’s lettable standard.
• Minimising voids times, rental loss and waiting times for new tenants by managing the specification and delivery of works to empty homes efficiently.
• To monitor the progress of works and ensure all works are carried out safely, to the required standard and timescale.
