THE ROLE
An exciting role for a BUILDING SURVEYOR at Project Surveyor or Senior Project Surveyor level to join an established firm of construction consultants in London.
Clients are varied and current workload is with a large university, a private school, and other clients.
My client's office is in central London.
Duties will include all aspects of project work for refurbishment, alteration, and some new build. You will be responsible for doing the initial survey, drawings, writing specs and reports, putting out to tender, and supervising the projects on site.
Projects are generally valued from around £50K to £5m and you will run a number of projects concurrently.
THE COMPANY
My client is a firm of construction consultants providing both Building Surveying and Quantity Surveying services.
They have a good variety of Blue Chip clients and investors.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be a Building Surveyor at either Project Surveyor or Senior Project Surveyor level.
You may be MRICS, MAPM, or MCIOB qualified or approaching taking APC, and you should have around 3 - 5 years of building surveying experience.
You will have good all-round experience of building surveying, but in particular for this role, you will need to have good project experience to run projects on behalf of clients doing refurbishment, alterations, new build, etc.
You will be able to do the initial survey, write specs and reports, put the work out to tender, and deal with the contractors, supervising them on site.
It is not necessary for you to have design or drawing experience; others in the firm can do that, but if you do your own drawings, it would be useful.
You must have a good understanding of the building process to be able to meet with clients and deal with their required project at all stages.
You should have a stable work record and have around two years or more PQE or 3 - 5 years building surveying experience if you are not yet chartered.
You must have excellent written and spoken English and be confident in dealing with people at all levels.
A stable work record with another firm of consultants or end-user clients is essential.
Salary will be a basic of £60,000 to £65,000 slightly negotiable plus discretionary bonus, pension, fees, etc.
