Perfect Recruitment Ltd. is recruiting a Building Physics Engineer for a Blackburn-based consultancy. The role focuses on building energy modelling, regulatory compliance (Part L) and overheating assessments across residential and commercial projects.

You will manage your own projects, liaise with clients and design teams, and receive support from senior colleagues as you build expertise in energy modelling and sustainability reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Physics, Building Services, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years UK consultancy experience in building physics or energy consultancy.
• Experience with building energy modelling and software tools such as DesignBuilder or IES VE.
• Experience with UK Building Regulations Part L and overheating assessments (TM59/TM52).
• Strong report writing, attention to detail and good client communication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Part L compliance modelling using SBEM and dynamic simulation.
• Produce BRUKL reports and Building Regulations compliance documentation.
• Complete TM59 and TM52 overheating assessments.
• Develop building energy models using DesignBuilder or IES VE.
• Undertake TM54 operational energy assessments and energy calculations.
• Provide technical advice to clients and design teams; attend meetings and manage workload.

Building Physics Engineer

Location: Blackburn

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Role

We’re recruiting for a Building Physics Engineer / Energy Consultant to join an established energy and sustainability consultancy based in Blackburn.

This is a technical role focused on building energy modelling, dynamic simulation, UK Building Regulations Part L compliance and overheating assessments, working across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects.

You’ll manage your own projects, work directly with clients and design teams, and receive technical support from experienced senior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Part L compliance modelling using SBEM and dynamic simulation
• Produce BRUKL reports and Building Regulations compliance documentation
• Complete CIBSE TM59 and TM52 overheating assessments
• Develop building energy models using DesignBuilder or IES VE
• Undertake TM54 operational energy assessments
• Carry out heat loss, heat gain and U-value calculations
• Support the preparation of energy and sustainability statements for planning
• Provide technical advice to clients, architects, engineers and design teams
• Attend project meetings and respond to technical queries
• Manage your own workload and deliver projects within agreed deadlines
• Assist with technical checking and peer review of colleagues' work
• Keep up to date with relevant Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and industry standards

About You

• A degree in Building Physics, Building Services, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related subject
• At least 2 years' UK consultancy experience in building physics, energy consultancy or a related discipline
• Experience of building energy modelling / energy modelling
• Practical experience using DesignBuilder or IES VE
• Experience with UK Building Regulations Part L
• Experience carrying out CIBSE TM59 and/or TM52 overheating assessments
• Strong report writing and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and design teams
• A full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

• Low Carbon Consultant (LCC) or Low Carbon Energy Assessor accreditation, or working towards accreditation
• TM54 operational energy assessments
• Planning energy and sustainability statements
• BREEAM
• SAP or non-domestic EPC accreditation
• Relevant CIBSE membership or professional development
