Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a BSL Teaching Assistant to support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in the Toddington and Dunstable area.

You will help pupils access learning, communicate with others and participate fully in school life.

Requirements include British Sign Language Level 2 or above, confidence using BSL daily, and a calm, patient, supportive approach. Experience in care or education settings is welcomed.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 2 or above is required.
• Confident in day-to-day communication using BSL.
• Experience supporting children or adults with hearing impairment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Use BSL to support communication between pupils and staff.
• Help pupils understand lessons and activities.
• Support individual pupils or small groups.
• Encourage pupils to express themselves and build confidence.
• Work with school staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
