Job summary

Senploy is recruiting on behalf of a Harringay school for an experienced BSL Teaching Assistant. This role supports Deaf and hearing-impaired pupils who rely on British Sign Language as their primary communication method, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.

You will work with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt materials, maintain records, and liaise with external professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Deaf or hearing-impaired pupils in a school or educational setting.
• Understanding of communication needs of Deaf children.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willing to apply).
• Right to work in the UK; two professional references.

Responsibilities

• Use BSL as the primary mode of communication to support pupils in class.
• Deliver differentiated learning support, in groups and one-to-one.
• Adapt lesson resources to be accessible for Deaf pupils.
• Build positive relationships to promote confidence and wellbeing.
• Liaise with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
• Maintain pupil progress records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
