Are you interested in supporting our ‘BRITE Box’ project?

BRITE Box (BRITE, being an acronym for Building Resilience In Today’s Environment), provides a weekly recipe meal kit to families across Southwark. All the ingredients are provided, which enables them to prepare and eat varied meals that are balanced and healthy. Not only does this bring families together with joy, but it sparks an interest in cooking, a development of key cooking skills, and the self-confidence to use such skills.

The boxes are distributed to a year group in each primary school (4 schools, currently) – on a Friday, before the end of the school day.

You will volunteer weekly on a Thursday, and/or Friday, either for the 1st shift (Thu / Fri), the 2nd shift (Thu), or for both shifts (Thu) – it depends on your preference and availability. On Thursdays, most of the BRITE box preparation is undertaken. On Fridays, the remaining preparation is completed, and the boxes are sent out on delivery.

Please note, your volunteering hours may be shortened, lengthened, or reallocated, depending on the needs of the project.

  • Ensuring all the correct ingredients are in the boxes
  • Loading the cardboard boxes and cooler boxes into the delivery van
  • Driving the van to deliver the boxes (only if you are interested, are able, and are assigned this responsibility)
  • Unloading the cardboard boxes and cooler boxes as part of the delivery process
  • Cleaning up the hall and kitchen, ensuring that tables, equipment, utensils, and other necessary items are put away

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. You will be required to undertake any other work that is in line with your abilities and with delivering this project.
