Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Glasgow is seeking an Assistant Engineer to join the Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation business. You will develop high-quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance and assessment works, contributing to major UK and Ireland projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Working towards CEng/IEng and ICE/Engineers Ireland/IStructE membership.
• Experience with key clients such as Transport Scotland, Network Rail, local authorities and major contractors.
• Good understanding of Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail/Translink standards.
• Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
• Experience of structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with clients, stakeholders and colleagues across engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality civil and structural designs for bridges and civils.
• Collaborate with national and international design teams to deliver sustainable projects.
• Produce and review design documentation including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analyses, reports and specs.
• Understand client problems and integrate AtkinsRéalis capabilities to solve them.
• Apply engineering judgement to appraise options and recommend solutions.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay updated on state-of-the-art methods in the area.
