Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Belfast seeks a Chartered/Near Chartered Engineer to join the Bridges and Civils team within Transportation. You will shape high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance and assessments.

Collaborate with national and international design teams, lead the production of design documentation and guide junior staff, while engaging with clients and stakeholders to deliver sustainable, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Working towards professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of ICE, Engineers Ireland or IStructE.
• Experience with key clients and major transportation projects.
• Good understanding of Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail/Translink standards.
• Experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
• Proficiency with design software such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.

Responsibilities

• Take pride in developing high-quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
• Collaborate with national and international design teams, using expertise to create sustainable impacts.
• Manage production and review of design documentation including sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports and specifications.
• Understand client problems and integrate AtkinsRéalis capabilities to develop solutions.
• Independently carry out technical work and guide junior staff.
• Lead teams in design, assessment and maintenance of structural projects and provide input on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Use analytical skills to derive solutions and provide engineering judgement on options.
• Engage with and manage internal and external stakeholders.
• Keep abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialisation.
