Job summary

Carrington West is assisting a busy Council in recruiting a Team Leader - Highway Structures (Bridges) on an ongoing contract. This full-time role offers a daily rate of £380–£400, negotiable for the right candidate, with flexible working arrangements.

You will act as the main point of contact for highway structures, oversee inspection programmes (~220 structures per year), prioritise schemes from ~440 assets, and provide design support for major schemes while ensuring compliant, safe

Responsibilities

• Act as main contact for highway structures across the Council.
• Respond to emergency structures call outs and oversee related repairs.
• Manage delivery and content of the structures inspection programme (≈220 structures/year).
• Produce a prioritized refurbishment list from ~440 assets; work with £500,000 funding.
• Provide design support for new footbridges or retaining walls for major schemes.
• Complete technical approvals and negotiate with developers to ensure compliant designs and construction quality.
• Bring income to the department through structures work for other internal and external clients.
• Lead external liaison with other Highway Authorities and government bodies.
• Must have a valid UK driving licence.
