Job summary

Chipstead Valley Primary School is seeking a Breakfast Club Assistant to supervise and engage children aged 2–11 before school. You will help provide a healthy breakfast, monitor dietary needs and support running two locations across nursery and primary sections.

The role is permanent, part-time and term-time only, with interviews starting mid-October 2026. The successful candidate will join an established Extended School provision team and contribute to a safe, welcoming start to the day.

Qualifications

  • Experience caring for nursery and primary aged children (2–11).
  • Ability to engage children through play and conversation.
  • Willingness to undertake or have qualifications in first aid and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise breakfast club before school hours.
  • Provide healthy breakfast and monitor dietary requirements.
  • Ensure safety and model appropriate behaviour during activities.
  • Assist across Nursery, KS1 and KS2 locations to ensure staff cover.

Breakfast Club Assistant

Salary: £5,305

Hours: 7:15 – 8:45, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Part-time and Term time only.

To commence: As soon as possible

Interviews commence from 12th October 2026

About the School

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Extended School provision team, providing wraparound care outside of school hours for our children. You will be engaging our children with fun and creative play based activities, whilst supervising their free play, modelling expected behaviour at all times and following school policies and procedures where challenging behaviour arises. You will also be providing a healthy breakfast, taking note of any dietary requirements of all children attending. Our Breakfast club is split between two locations, caring for Nursery and KS1 children, and KS2 children. The successful candidate will be required to work across both teams to ensure adequate staff cover is provided at all times.

The Ideal candidate will have
  • Experience in looking after nursery and primary school aged children from ages 2-11
  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a primary school
  • Proven experience engaging children in play based activities and conversations, with the ability to relate to children of all ages
  • Level 2 or 3 childcare qualfications would be an advantage but are not essential
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification would be an advantage but a willingness to undertake the qualification would be acceptable
