Job summary

Bosco CET in Hastings is seeking a dedicated before/after school support worker to help provide safe, creative play and reliable supervision for pupils. You will work closely with staff and families to support the school’s priorities and values.

The role requires term-time hours: 7.45am to 8.45am, five hours per week, with flexibility in busy periods. Applicants should be capable, patient and committed to safeguarding and development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, creative play opportunities and prepare activities.
  • Deliver/collect children to and from school as required, with safe transport where applicable.
  • Implement school discipline and behaviour policies.
  • Report incidents to headteacher or club coordinator as needed.
  • Record injuries, sickness and first aid using Meditracker where applicable.
  • Clean up spills and keep eating areas tidy.
  • Assist with day-to-day admin, record keeping and purchasing materials.
  • liaise with parents, school representatives and childcare agencies.
  • Ensure no pupil remains outside when lessons begin.

Job description

Purpose of the Role

All support staff are part of a whole school team. They are required to support the values and ethos of the school and school priorities. This will mean focussing on the needs of pupils, colleagues and parents/carers and being flexible in a busy pressurised environment. To assist in the day to day organisation of the out of school clubs and assist in the provision of quality play opportunities

Key tasks
  • Provide safe, creative play opportunities, preparing activities, organising the programme etc.
  • Provide full care for the children including delivering children to school, collecting children from school (where appropriate) and delivering them safely to their parents or carers. This may include providing breakfast or refreshments.
  • Provide positive and firm control by implementing the school discipline/behaviour policy.
  • Deal with cases of unruly or unsocial behaviour by pupils where appropriate, or report the incident immediately to the headteacher or club co-ordinator.
  • Ensure that any injury or sickness of pupils is reported immediately to the First Aider or headteacher and the office. (Where appropriate, administer basic first aid and record all details on Meditracker.) To clean up after sickness of children
  • Mop up and wipe spillage from the floor surfaces or meal tables, and ensure that the eating area is left in a tidy condition.
  • Take part in the day to day administration, record keeping, ordering and purchasing materials and equipment.
  • Liaise closely with parents, school representatives and other childcare and play related agencies.
  • Check that no pupil remains in outside areas when morning lessons are about to begin.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7.45am to 8.45am - 5 hours per week Term Time Only: 38 weeks per year
