Glen Callum Associates is seeking a hands-on Branch Manager for a Bristol-based distribution branch. You will lead an established team, drive customer engagement, manage stock, and ensure operational excellence while meeting sales and profitability targets.

The role emphasizes leading from the front, developing staff, and maintaining strong relationships with local accounts. A branch-based, Monday–Friday role with occasional Saturdays is expected.

Branch Manager - Distribution

We're looking for a hands-on Branch Manager to lead an established and experienced team within a successful distribution business. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a busy branch operation, balancing leadership, customer engagement, sales performance, stock control and operational excellence.

You'll be responsible for creating a positive, high-performing culture, developing your team and ensuring the branch consistently delivers exceptional customer service while achieving commercial and operational targets.

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates with backgrounds in:

• Electrical wholesale or distribution
• Automotive parts distribution / motor factors
• Industrial distribution, engineering supplies, builders' merchants or plumbers' merchants
• Trade supply and B2B wholesale environments

Location - Bristol, Branch-based role - commutable from Bristol, Bath, Long Ashton, Stoke Gifford, Portbury, Portishead, Congresbury, Chew Magna, Warmley, Saltford, Thornbury, Nailsea, Iron Acton, Yate, Keynsham, Clevedon

This is a hands-on management position, leading from the front and working closely with both customers and employees to drive branch success.

The Candidate

You will be a motivated and commercially aware people manager who enjoys developing teams and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

You’ll ideally demonstrate:

• Previous Branch Manager, Operations Manager or Depot Manager experience within a wholesale, distribution or trade environment or be an experienced Assistant Manager who is ready to take that next step.
• Strong leadership skills with the proven success in coaching, motivating and developing a team.
• Experience managing stock, warehouse operations and distribution logistics.
• A customer-focused approach, building strong relationships with key local accounts.
• Proven ability to achieve sales targets and branch KPIs.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify growth opportunities.
• Experience managing health & safety within an operational environment.
• A results-driven approach with excellent organisational and communication skills.

The Role

With a hands-on management style, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the branch, including:

• Leading, coaching, developing and motivating branch employees.
• Creating a positive, customer-focused and high-performing team culture.
• Identifying local market opportunities and driving business growth.
• Building and maintaining relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
• Managing all operational activities, including stock, warehouse and distribution functions.
• Working closely with head office teams to ensure appropriate stock availability and inventory control.
• Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
• Delivering agreed sales, profitability and operational performance targets.
• Identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to enhance branch efficiency and effectiveness.
• Monitoring competitor activity and market trends, providing insight and recommendations to support continued growth.
