We are looking for a Bookings Administrator to join our team at Wessex Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The Bookings Administrator will manage a large volume of referrals, appointments, and surgery bookings, ensuring patients are scheduled promptly and accurately. Working closely with clinical teams and consultants, the postholder will help the hospital achieve its service delivery targets while consistently exceeding customer expectations. Preferably you will hold a NVQ level 2 in Business and Administration or equivalent and experience of working in a customer facing environment, to help us build a healthier nation.
Deal with all administration tasks for inpatient bookings including booking theatre slots, pre-assessment appointments, liaising with consultants, patients and various departments around the hospital and processing patient details
Handle telephone enquiries efficiently and effectively, providing excellent customer service
Handle appointments bookings and changes
Co-ordinate availability of rooms and consultants
Create, alter or cancel clinics as required to support business needs
*To prepare standard and ad-hoc reports as required and required by the department
Bring empathy, sympathy and sensitivity to the role.
Ensure complex administration and support meets the required standards and timescales.
Have attention to detail, ensuring all data/information is accurate and maintained using the appropriate systems and formats.
Have good IT and keyboard skills, with experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Have the ability and confidence to engage with a variety of people, including patients, consultants and medical secretaries.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with a positive can-do attitude.
Stay calm under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ensure work is carried out to the required standard and within agreed working practices and procedures, prioritising workload as necessary.
Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Be a good team player.
Have the ability to work independently.
Experience within an administrative or customer-facing environment would be an advantage.
