Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Building Controls Engineer in the UK to design, deliver, and commission BMS solutions across diverse sectors. You will work with a small team under the Lead Engineer, gaining responsibility and rapid progression opportunities.

The role requires strong knowledge of BMS platforms, control strategies, and integration with PLCs, with travel to customer sites as needed. A relevant engineering qualification is essential, with ESL and related certifications advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and implementing BMS projects.
• Strong knowledge of BMS platforms (EcoStruxure, Desigo, Metasys).
• Understanding building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, IP).
• Experience with ASPs and PLC integration in large facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and engineer BMS solutions based on project requirements and specifications.
• Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and project managers during pre‑sales and bidding processes.
• Create detailed engineering designs, including control strategies, network architecture, and equipment selection.
• Develop and review project documentation, including functional specifications, technical drawings, and control narratives.
• Configure and program BMS controllers, sensors, and field devices to enable seamless integration and functionality.
• Maintain competence in BMS software and programming tools using Script and Function Block.
• Integrate and commission third‑party plant using BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, LonWorks, and other interfaces.
• Interface with and integrate PLC-based systems across large-scale environments.
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to verify operation across building types.
