Job summary

Talent Finder represents a Leeds-based specialist in control panel design, manufacturing and building management systems. The Design Manager will lead and coordinate the design team, ensuring technical submissions meet tender scope and project requirements.

Based at the Leeds office, with occasional home working available by agreement. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will oversee workloads, monitor quality, develop procedures and contribute to technical details and schematics.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and coordinating a design team within BMS/building services or related engineering environment.
• Strong technical ability to review design work for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to interpret project requirements and technical information.
• Confident communication with clients, consultants and internal teams.
• Organised approach, able to coordinate workloads and manage changing priorities.
• Applicants with full right to work in the UK; no sponsorship available.
• BMS experience and control panel manufacturing experience.
• Experience with electrical schematics and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design team, planning workloads and ensuring suitable cover.
• Review technical submissions for accuracy and alignment with tender scope.
• Work with project managers and designers to interpret project requirements and produce technical details and schematics.
• Attend client and consultant meetings as required, representing the company and discussing design proposals.
• Monitor team performance through regular meetings and annual reviews.
• Identify training needs and organise training when procedures or requirements change.
• Develop, implement and review design procedures to support consistent ways of working.
• Support internal and external quality assurance requirements, including audits and follow-up actions.
• Ensure the design team follows company policies and procedures, including health and safety and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Work with the Operations Director and management team to monitor project information and support contractual compliance.
• Take on specific projects and other related duties as required
