Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Blood Donation Team Assistant (Bank) to support our donor centres on an as-and-when basis. No medical background is required; training will be provided to help you welcome donors and maintain a friendly environment.

Hours are variable, including daytime, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays. You will work at donor centres, with flexibility to choose your shifts, and you may be asked to cover short-term gaps as needed.

• Good standard of numeracy and literacy

Job description

Come and join our bank of casual workers, who support our blood collection teams on an as and when basis. This will often be at short notice to work hours that are mutually convenient. As this role is to cover short-term gaps in our teams there is no guarantee of regular hours.

You don’t need a medical background or any qualifications, we just need your friendly, flexible approach to make our volunteer donors feel welcome, at ease and valued. You will receive training to undertake this vital role.

Main duties of the job

• You will work in a static Donor Centre to cover the after-donation refreshments area and any other appropriate duty relevant to that specific donor centre.
• This is a casual hour’s contract role, but you may be asked to work a variety of days, including evenings and Bank Holidays, but you have the flexibility to just work the days that you choose to do.
