Job summary

Elevate Recruitment Group is recruiting a Bistro Chef for a client in Horley, Surrey. The role focuses on preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch, maintaining high hygiene standards and ensuring accurate portioning and presentation across menu items.

You will handle ingredient prep, stock rotation and assist with deliveries while supporting front-of-house communication and teamwork in a busy kitchen.

Job description

Our client based in Horley, Surrey, are looking for a Bistro Chef to join their growing team.

You will be responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen, preparing and serving food to a high standard while maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards.

Preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch and other menu items to the required standard.

Preparing ingredients, including chopping, portioning and food preparation.

Cooking eggs, bacon alternatives, sausages, hash browns, beans, toast and other breakfast items.

Preparing Turkish breakfast and other speciality dishes as required.

Assisting with preparation of sauces, salads, sides and other menu items.

Ensuring food is cooked, presented and served correctly and consistently.

Working efficiently during busy breakfast and lunch services.

Following food hygiene, health and safety and allergen procedures at all times.

Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation areas.

Cleaning cooking equipment, work surfaces, utensils and kitchen areas throughout and at the end of each shift.

Correctly storing and labelling food and checking use-by dates.

Following stock rotation procedures and informing management when stock levels are low.

Minimising food waste and using ingredients responsibly.

Assisting with deliveries and putting stock away safely when required.

Working as part of a team and communicating effectively with front-of-house staff.

Following recipes, portion sizes and kitchen procedures.

Supporting other kitchen duties as reasonably required by the business.

Opening or closing the kitchen as required, including completing relevant cleaning and preparation duties.

The role requires a positive attitude, good timekeeping, reliability and the ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods.
