Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to join a Birmingham school catering team. This role offers an immediate start and weekly pay, with a supportive school environment.

You will assist with basic food preparation and serving meals, support chefs, and help maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation in the school kitchen.

An enhanced DBS, Food Safety Level 2, and Food Allergen certificates (or willingness to obtain) are required, along with right to work in the UK.

What you will be doing

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the catering team with the smooth running of the school kitchen and help maintain high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with basic food preparation and serving meals
• Supporting chefs and the wider kitchen team
• Washing up and keeping kitchen areas clean and organised
• Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
• Helping with deliveries, stock rotation and storage
• Supporting the team during busy service periods
• Ensuring the kitchen remains clean, safe and well organised

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Kitchen Assistant or in a similar catering environment is desirable
• Experience within a school or education setting is desirable
• Enhanced DBS required
• 2 references required
• Food Safety Level 2 certificate required (or willingness to obtain)
• Food Allergen certificate required (or willingness to obtain)
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Right to work in the UK
