Job summary

Berkeley Scott Recruitment is recruiting experienced Catering Assistants to join our team for the new school year starting in September. Working across schools in the area with Impact Food Group, these term-time roles offer flexible shifts and weekly pay.

You will support kitchen operations, prepare and serve meals, operate tills where needed, and help maintain high standards of hygiene and safety in fast-paced school kitchens. Weekly pay and ongoing temp assignments included.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or kitchen experience preferred.
• Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or willingness to complete.
• Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List, or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy catering environment.
• Reliable, professional and positive attitude.
• Team player with ability to work independently.
• Passion for great food service.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef, Catering Manager and kitchen team
• Help prepare and serve hot and cold food
• Serve meals to children with teachers and support staff
• Operate tills and process payments where required
• Clean down kitchen and dining areas after service
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety
• Follow food safety and allergen procedures
• Keep service areas clean, stocked, and organized
• Work with school staff to ensure efficient meal service

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the catering team, you will:

• Support the Chef, Catering Manager and wider kitchen team

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment (school catering experience is desirable but not essential)
• Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or a willingness to complete them
• An Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List, or willingness to obtain one
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy catering environment
• A reliable, professional and positive attitude
• Confidence working independently as well as part of a team
• A passion for providing great food service and supporting busy kitchen operations
