Job summary

Berkeley Scott in Blackpool is seeking a Catering Assistant to support school catering operations across local sites from September. The role offers term-time hours aligned to school timetables, with weekly pay and flexible shifts to fit childcare and other commitments.

You will assist food preparation, service and kitchen cleanliness, working alongside teaching staff and kitchen teams, with opportunities to gain experience across multiple schools. Prior catering experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or kitchen experience required.
• Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or a willingness to complete them.
• Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List, or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef, Catering Manager and wider kitchen team.
• Help prepare and serve hot and cold food.
• Serve meals to children and assist teaching staff.
• Operate tills and process payments where required.
• Clean down kitchen and dining areas at the end of service.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and safety.
• Follow all food safety and allergen procedures.
• Keep food service areas clean, organised and fully stocked.
• Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure an efficient meal service.

This temporary role is for a Catering Assistant to join Berkeley Scott in Blackpool, supporting school catering operations starting in September. Working alongside Impact Food Group, you will undertake various duties within school kitchens across the local area. The position offers term-time work with school hours, designed to accommodate childcare or other personal commitments. Key responsibilities include food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness. Candidates should possess previous catering experience.
