Job summary

United Utilities in Wigan is seeking a Process Operator (Shift-based) to join our permanent team. Based at our Wigan site, you will monitor, operate and support wastewater treatment processes to ensure environmental compliance, asset reliability and operational efficiency.

You’ll work outdoors, handle planned and reactive tasks, and collaborate with Process Controllers and engineers to maintain safety, respond to changing demands and drive continuous improvements across the assets.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Experience in an operational environment with wastewater or bioresource assets.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and support wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Process Controllers and managers to maintain asset reliability.
• Apply practical judgement to respond to changing operational demands.
• Record and report operational data and maintain scheduling systems.
• Maintain safety and follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operations.
