Job summary

United Utilities Group plc is seeking a hands-on maintenance-focused operativ e for our wastewater treatment works in the North West. Based on site, you will perform essential tasks across multiple treatment sites to meet environmental, safety and customer standards.

You will carry out routine checks, inspections and maintenance, support root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement. This permanent, full-time role requires a driving license and willingness to work outdoors as

  • Full UK driving license required and experience in related operational environments.
  • Knowledge of environmental output standards, compliance requirements, and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Ability to follow processes and work safely.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day operational and maintenance tasks across wastewater treatment processes across sites.
  • Help ensure sites meet environmental regulations and performance targets.
  • Take a hands-on approach to planned and reactive work.
  • Support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise contractors.

Job description

We're looking for someone hands-on, team focused individual to help keep our wastewater treatment sites running smoothly.

Based on site, you'll carry out essential tasks across a number of treatment sites, helping us meet important environmental, safety and customer standards. From taking samples and readings to cleaning and routine checks, your work will play a key part in protecting public health, the environment, and the communities we serve.

  • Carrying out day-to-day operational and maintenance tasks across wastewater treatment processes.
  • Helping ensure our sites meet environmental regulations and performance targets.
  • Taking a hands-on approach to both planned and reactive work.
  • Adapting to change tasks and priorities as needed.
  • Carry out routine checks, inspections, and maintenance tasks across operational sites.
  • Support with investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise contractors to deliver operational objectives.
  • Participation Standby rota required

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship

  • A full UK driving license is required.
  • Worked in a related industry with similar operational environments and technical demands.
  • Knowledge of environmental output standards, compliance requirements, and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Able to always follow processes and work safely.
  • Comfortable working in a physically active, hands-on role.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A flexible approach to work changing tasks and priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to work towards an accredited qualification relevant to the role.
