Job summary

Substrate is building the molecular characterisation cascade that follows protein production and precedes functional assays. You will hand-build QC, binding, and stability readouts, then transition to instrumented execution as automation comes online.

The role spans three levels: Lab Technician, Scientist, and Principal Scientist, with hands-on bench work central at all times. You will develop and validate QC, binding, and developability workflows, ranging from manual to semi-automated states,

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with biophysical and/or analytical instrumentation for protein characterisation.
• Comfortable executing assays in a high-throughput format through manual, semi-automated, and instrumented phases.
• A track record of working alongside non-scientist colleagues (automation, software, computational) on a shared workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design, validate, and run biophysical and developability assays at the bench.
• Collaborate with automation and software teams to ensure manual workflows are automation-ready.
• Contribute to SOPs and data capture for reproducibility.
• Support lab technicians and scientists across three tiers.
