Job summary

Level Zero Health is seeking a hands‑on technician to run label‑free biophysical instruments (SPR, GCI, ITC or BLI) to characterize receptor–hormone binding and ligand kinetics. You’ll troubleshoot, prepare samples, and contribute to real‑time biosensor development.

You’ll work closely with scientists, tackle data artefacts, and help refine methods for challenging targets, with travel to NY and other R&D sites as part of an exciting early‑stage venture.

Qualifications

• 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience running biophysical characterisation instruments (SPR, GCI, ITC or BLI)
• Experience with protein or small‑molecule binding studies and basic kinetic analysis
• Awareness of common pitfalls in small‑molecule binding, such as mass transport effects and solvent correction
• Strong attention to detail, careful record‑keeping and a methodical approach to troubleshooting
• Bonus: experience with aptamers or other nucleic acid‑small molecule interactions, hydrophobic targets, complex sample matrices, or ITC

Responsibilities

• Run binding experiments on receptor‑hormone interactions using GCI, SPR and ITC, following established methods
• Prepare samples, buffers and sensor chips, and maintain instruments to keep data quality consistent
• Measure binding kinetics (on‑rates and off‑rates) and affinity, and spot and flag common data artefacts
• Troubleshoot routine issues such as non‑specific binding and carry‑over, working with the team to optimise buffers, additives and cleaning protocols
• Support method refinement for difficult, poorly soluble targets
• Run assays in realistic biological samples to help assess how other components affect results
• Document methods and results clearly, and share findings with the wider team
