Job summary

Elanco is seeking an Analytical Development Scientist at our Speke site in Liverpool to contribute to the development of biopharmaceutical and vaccine products. The role focuses on developing and optimizing analytical methods to support microbial and cell culture development projects, combining hands-on experiments with data interpretation.

You will work with colleagues in Speke and Elanco's global network, plan method validations, interpret CQAs, ensure compliance with safety and Good Research

Qualifications

• Degree or higher degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology/Biologics or related discipline.
• 2+ years hands-on analytical method development or PhD research.
• Strong understanding of protein chemistry.
• Experience with HPLC, UV, ELISA and CE-SDS.
• Knowledge of CQAs and impurities in biopharmaceutical development.
• Experience planning and executing analytical method validations.
• Ability to produce high-quality scientific and technical documentation.
• Strong collaboration across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise analytical methods supporting biopharmaceutical and vaccine process development, including HPLC, ELISA, UV and CE‑SDS techniques.
• Plan, execute and evaluate laboratory studies through hands‑on experimentation and data interpretation.
• Provide analytical expertise across development laboratory and pilot plant projects within Elanco's network.
• Interpret analytical data, identify CQAs and impurities, and translate findings into development strategies.
• Plan and execute method validations and fit‑for‑purpose studies to meet project requirements.
• Communicate progress and findings to technical teams and global stakeholders with high-quality documentation.
• Ensure activities comply with safety, quality and Good Research Practice requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement and support analytical method technology transfers when required.
