Job summary

Adecco is seeking an analytical development chemist to join a manufacturing site in Liverpool. The role supports QA, product testing and continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Location: Liverpool. Job Type: Temporary. Pay rate: £20.60 per hour. The ideal candidate will have lab experience in analytical testing, a degree in chemistry or related field, and strong attention to detail with a drive for quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Accurately record, analyse and report test results.
• Assist with quality investigations and customer queries.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of analytical and quality control methods.
• Ensure products consistently meet quality, food safety, and customer requirements.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Accurately record, analyse, and report test results.
• Assist with quality investigations and the resolution of customer queries.
• Manage laboratory consumables, chemicals, and retained samples.
• Ensure compliance with COSHH, Health & Safety, and food safety standards.
• Contribute to laboratory improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment carrying out analytical testing.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or another regulated industry.
• Knowledge of analytical instrumentation, calibration, and validation processes.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
