Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology Department at Bedford Hospital on a fixed-term maternity cover. The role involves performing a range of microbiological analyses to support timely patient diagnosis and treatment, within a UKAS ISO 15189-accredited environment.

You will work with a range of technologies and contribute to a developing 24/7 service, with shifts and on-call as required.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
• HCPC State registration is required.
• Experience in a Clinical Microbiology lab is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of microbiological analyses and investigations to support diagnosis and patient care.
• Contribute to the development of a high-quality, patient-focused service.
• Participate in shift work including weekends and bank holidays and on-call duties.
• Support QA activities and audits to maintain ISO 15189 compliance.
