Job summary

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and highly motivated biomedical scientist who is professional, reliable, and flexible to join our Cellular Pathology team at this busy NHS Foundation Trust.

The appointee will be based within the Histopathology department at King's Mill Hospital, rotating through sections of routine Histopathology, Non-gynae Cytology, Andrology, and Immunohistochemistry, with occasional travel to Newark Hospital, where we have a satellite laboratory.

The Department has full UKAS accreditation, HCPC/IBMS training status, and actively encourages CPD participation. The laboratory currently operates on weekdays only, but candidates must have the flexibility to work 5 out of 7 days per week if required. The payment scheme aligns with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

You will be based within the UKAS 15189:2012 accredited Pathology Department at King's Mill Hospital, which has HCPC/IBMS training status. The department is developing collaborative relationships with neighboring Trusts. This is an exciting time as we develop a culture of continuous improvement to ensure outstanding healthcare delivery.

Person Specification
Knowledge
  • Relevant theoretical, practical, and scientific knowledge to underpin the technical aspects of a laboratory service.
Qualifications
  • HCPC registered as a biomedical scientist or a Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent acceptable by HCPC.
Further Training
  • Participation in CPD.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake a minimum two-year postgraduate training program to demonstrate competency using the Specialist Portfolio in Histopathology.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of specialist training in a clinical laboratory, during which sufficient knowledge has been acquired to demonstrate competence in the portfolio of specialist training.
Contractual Requirements
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Annual attendance at Trust Fire lecture.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum, pro-rata.
