Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Band 5 Histopathology professional to join their team in Manchester. The role requires an IBMS accredited Biomedical Sciences degree, current HCPC registration, and knowledge of Quality Management Systems in pathology. You will be responsible for operating complex laboratory equipment and training junior staff, contributing to the quality of patient care.

Qualifications

• Must have appropriate UK professional registration.
• Experience in operating and maintaining complex laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of ISO 15189 standards.

Person specification

Qualifications

• IBMS accredited Biomedical Sciences degree (or other degree accredited with IBMS)
• Current HCPC registration
• Evidence of CPD

Desirable criteria

• Working towards IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology

Knowledge

• Knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems in pathology
• Knowledge of the work of a Histopathology Department
• Hospital laboratory experience in Histopathology
• A sound understanding of basic physiology, pathology, and scientific principles relevant to Histopathology

Training and Experience

• Experience of operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex laboratory equipment
• Experience of training BMS and MLA staff
• Awareness of ISO 15189 standards

Desirable criteria

• Experience of using QPulse
• Experience in service improvement within pathology
