The Royal Marsden NHS Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, renowned for high-quality patient care, research, development, and education. Our laboratories are located on three sites: two in Central London (Chelsea and Cavendish Square) and one in Sutton, Surrey.

Job Vacancy: Band 5 Biomedical Scientist (BMS) - Biochemistry

We are offering a full-time, 1-year fixed-term position for a newly qualified, HCPC-registered Band 5 BMS in the Biochemistry Department at our Chelsea site. Rotations to Cavendish Square and Sutton may be required based on service needs. The successful candidate will rotate through all areas of Biochemistry, developing their knowledge and experience with support from senior and clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out analytical work in the Biochemistry Department.
• Participate in rotations across all sections of the department.
• Liaise with staff in Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, and Haematology, as well as other departments within Pathology and the Trust.

Qualifications and Experience

• HCPC registration.
• Previous experience with analytical platforms such as the Ortho Vitro 5600 is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Additional Information

The Blood Sciences laboratories are accredited by UKAS under ISO15189. The department supports continuous professional development through the CPD Club. The successful candidate may be required to participate in an on-call system after extensive training.
