Job summary

Last Mile is seeking a Billing Specialist to cover a 12-month maternity contract in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. The role focuses on producing accurate customer invoices, maintaining billing controls, and supporting month-end activities within a hybrid-working environment.

Key responsibilities include resolving invoice queries with cross-functional teams, generating reports, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

Your responsibilities as a Billing Specialist:

• Prepare, validate and issue accurate customer invoices and credit notes, ensuring all supporting documentation and approvals meet company procedures and contractual requirements.
• Maintain project invoice controls, monitor billing milestones and identify billable activities to ensure revenue opportunities are captured promptly.
• Produce billing reports, project statements and reconciliations, following up with stakeholders to ensure outstanding actions are completed.
• Work with Project Managers, Commercial teams and Credit Control to resolve invoice queries, discrepancies, missing information and changes of legal entity.
• Support month end activities, maintain accurate and compliant billing records, and identify improvements to processes, controls and reporting.

Experience / Knowledge:

• Experience in finance, billing or accounts receivable, with a good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting and reconciliations, with knowledge of ERP, finance or billing systems desirable.
• Experience in utilities, construction, engineering, telecoms or project-based environments, including invoicing against milestones, variations or contractual agreements, is desirable.
