Job summary

Mint Selection | B Corp is partnering with a leading energy sector organisation to recruit an experienced BESS Technical Lead for a major UK battery energy storage project in London. The role will own the technical workstream from requirements through to tender award and long-term service considerations.

You will oversee development of Employer’s Requirements, lead bid clarifications, evaluate technical submissions and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs to secure an optimal contract outcome.

Qualifications

• Experience on utility-scale BESS projects and tenders.
• Ability to develop Employer’s Requirements and technical specs.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery tech, PCS/inverters, EMS/SCADA.
• Familiarity with grid connection interfaces and MV/HV systems.
• Experience evaluating bids and drafting contractual protections.

Responsibilities

• Act as the principal technical point of contact during BESS tender.
• Develop and finalise technical specs and Employer’s Requirements.
• Coordinate clarifications and technical discussions with bidders.
• Lead technical evaluation and compare proposed solutions.
• Review safety, performance, and certification standards.
• Assess supplier capability and delivery programme.
• Translate risks into contract terms and warranties.
• Support negotiations on long-term service agreements.
• Coordinate input from engineering, grid, plan, legal and finance.
• Prepare evaluation reports and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Support handover to delivery and construction phases.
