Job summary

Enable Leisure and Culture seeks an experienced Bereavement Service Administrator to join the Bereavement team at Putney Vale North East Surrey Crematorium. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week, office based.

You will support daily bereavement operations, manage invoicing and financial procedures, and provide admin support across cemeteries and crematoria while delivering compassionate service and maintaining GDPR-compliant records.

  • Experience working with IT systems with Windows, web applications including Office365, Teams and Outlook, as well as other related software, including Sage Intacct.
  • Possess a high level of resilience, emotional stability and maturity with a commitment to achieving and maintaining standards of excellence and experience of delivering administrative support in a busy, front-facing and highly pressurised office environment.
  • Possess effective interactive communication skills with the ability to deal with potentially difficult and sensitive situations in a professional and calm manner without compromising the needs and quality of the service, with an excellent level of English language both written and oral and able to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and maintain confidentiality throughout that complies with GDPR requirements.
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to work, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Able to work as an effective team player, assisting and supporting other team members and help celebrate the success of the team and Enable as a whole.

  • Undertake fire marshall training if required and execute related duties if needed.

  • Full UK driving license
  • Access to a vehicle suitable for use in connection with work duties

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between bereavement services and the central finance team
  • Produce and check funeral director invoices
  • Handle procurement, raising of PO’s and processing of supplier invoices
  • Assist manager in planning and delivering annual events (e.g. open days, memorial services)
  • Support all administrative functions related to cemeteries and crematoria
  • Act as Burial Attendance Officer, accompanying funeral corteges and overseeing interments
  • Act as Chapel Attendant, overseeing services, ensuring cleanliness of venue and checking audio visuals with celebrants and funeral directors
  • Provide guidance to visitors on cemetery and crematorium matters
  • Attend memorial services, open days, and company events/staff meetings
  • Be willing to work remotely if required
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks within the scope of the role and grade
  • Offer administrative support at Putney Vale Crematorium under reciprocal arrangements
