TeacherActive is recruiting a Behavioural Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Nottingham. The role focuses on supporting pupils aged 4-16 with Autism/ASD, managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive engagement in learning.

The position is full-time and long-term, starting in November 2026. You will work across classrooms and non-classroom environments, with on-site support from a dedicated consultant team and CPD opportunities.

Job Title: Behavioural Teaching Assistant

Location: Nottingham Start Date: November 2026 Salary: £95-£100 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school based in Nottingham, which caters for children and young people aged 4-16 years old with Autism / ASD. The school provides a specialist learning environment where pupils receive support tailored to their individual educational, social and emotional needs.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis starting in November 2026. The successful Behavioural Teaching Assistant will support pupils with Autism / ASD, helping to manage challenging behaviours, encourage positive engagement in learning and provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom.

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience working within SEND settings
• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism / ASD
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and implementing positive behaviour management strategies
• Knowledge of SEND support strategies and an understanding of pupils' individual learning needs
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people
