Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant for a South Birmingham secondary school. The role involves 1:1 and small group support within the inclusion provision, helping pupils reintegrate into mainstream lessons and manage behavioural and emotional needs.

We are looking for calm, resilient individuals who can build trusted relationships, de-escalate challenging behaviours, and collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in school/alternative provision/youth work or similar setting.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient with the ability to remain composed under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils within the school's inclusion provision.
• Supporting pupils with behavioural, social, and emotional needs to reintegrate into mainstream lessons.
• Building strong, trusting relationships while maintaining boundaries and high expectations.
• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using restorative and positive behaviour strategies.
• Encouraging positive choices, resilience and engagement with learning.
• Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
• Monitoring pupil behaviour, attendance and progress, providing regular feedback to staff.
• Working with teachers, pastoral staff, parents and external agencies to ensure best outcomes.

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in South Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within the school's inclusion provision, supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and pastoral support to successfully reintegrate into mainstream education.

About the Role
