Job summary

Look Ahead Care & Support is seeking a Specialist Behavioural Support Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Social Care Service in Hertfordshire. This role focuses on enabling individuals to lead active lives and develop independence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with customers with Autism/Challenging Behaviour/learning disabilities.
• Driving licence and a willingness to drive as part of support duties.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the customer to lead a full and active life and try new things.
• Developing the customer's independent living skills (cooking, shopping, cleaning, decorating).
• Supporting the customer in their sensory routine and trying new sensory experiences.
• Helping the customer to communicate wants/needs in a person-centred way.
• Supporting the customer to manage anxieties using Positive Behaviour Support/Autism-specific approaches.
• Collating behavioural data and essential paperwork for local management review.
• Driving the customer's vehicle to support daily activities.
• Communicating with social work, psychology and commissioning teams.
• Adhering to Look Ahead policies and local service procedures.
