Job description

Behavioural Specialist Teaching Assistant

A local Stockport primary school is looking for a teaching assistant with a behavioural specialism to join their team in supporting students with behavioural challenges within the classroom. The ideal candidate will have a desire to support children with special educational needs, specifically challenges in behaviour, to allow them to be able to access their education and learn tools needed to succeed in the mainstream school system.

Role Description

- Provide academic and emotional learning support to students with additional behaviour needs.

- Support students both in whole class settings, smaller intervention groups and in 1-to-1 sessions as required.

- Responsible for the wellbeing and safeguarding of all students in their care.

- Supporting students personal, social and emotional wellbeing and development.

- Managing any difficult behaviours in a sensitive, professional and patient manner.

- Communicating with staff and parents as required in terms of children’s progress and development.

Role Requirements

- Experience working in an education/childcare setting.

- A passion for education and supporting SEN children.

- Experience working with children with additional emotional needs.

- Experience managing difficult behaviours.

- Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal.

- Desirable – A relevant TA or SEN support qualification.

An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service is mandatory for this role. If you do not currently have one, you will need to apply through Teaching Personnel as part of the vetting process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
