Job description

Teaching Assistant - Cannock

Are you looking to build a meaningful career in education and support young people with additional learning needs? We're seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a welcoming SEND school in Cannock. This is a long-term opportunity ideal for someone eager to make a genuine difference in pupils' lives.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping children and young people with special educational needs (including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and MLD) access learning in a way that works for them. Whether working on a 1:1 basis or supporting small groups, you'll assist with both academic and emotional development, ensuring each child feels heard, included, and empowered to thrive.

You'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create an environment where every pupil can flourish. From delivering structured interventions to supporting social skills development, no two days are the same-and every day brings the chance to support a child in achieving a goal.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND in classroom activities and tailored learning programmes
  • Implementing EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets through structured tasks
  • Helping to create and maintain a calm, nurturing learning space
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behavioural management using positive reinforcement techniques
  • Encouraging pupils' independence and celebrating every step of progress
  • Building supportive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff alike

What We're Looking For:

  • We're searching for someone who is:
  • Patient, adaptable, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Passionate about inclusion and child-centred learning
  • Confident working with children who may have communication difficulties or behavioural needs
  • Able to follow guidance and contribute ideas as part of a wider team
  • Ideally experienced in an SEN, SEMH, or classroom support setting-but training can be provided for the right individual

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a nurturing and inclusive school community in Cannock
  • Gain invaluable experience supporting a wide range of SEND needs
  • Receive ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who understands your goals
  • Access opportunities for professional development and further training

If you're ready to take on a role where you can inspire, support, and grow every day, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and take the next step towards a rewarding career in education.
