Graduate Learning Support Assistant - Behaviour & Mental Health Support
Full-time | Term-time only | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supporting children and young people?
Are you looking to build experience in a specialist setting, working with pupils who face barriers to learning related to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?

We are recruiting for a Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school that provides tailored support to children and young people with behavioural challenges, mental health needs, and associated learning difficulties. This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday, term-time only), offering a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference while gaining valuable experience for careers in education, psychology, social care, or youth work.

  • Support individual students and small groups with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and academic engagement.

  • Work under the guidance of teaching staff and the pastoral team to implement bespoke support strategies.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils to foster trust and resilience.

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Help deliver tailored activities that promote self-esteem, communication, and personal development.

  • A recent graduate (e.g. Psychology, Criminology, Education, Youth Work, or related field).

  • Confident, calm, and resilient when faced with challenging behaviour.

  • A natural rapport builder with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people.

  • Eager to learn and adaptable to the needs of a dynamic school setting.

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people (in school, youth work, mentoring or care settings) is desirable but not essential.

  • A structured temporary-to-permanent opportunity.

  • Ongoing training, CPD, and support from experienced school staff and our recruitment team.
