Job summary

GSL Education is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support learners in a SEN school in Bodmin. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with ASAP start, and offers ongoing opportunities to make a positive impact on student development.

Applicants should have experience in UK SEN settings or transferable skills for students with behavioural needs, excellent communication, patience, and a commitment to safeguarding and child protection. DBS update service preferred.

Job description

FULL TIME ROLE: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm.

ASAP START

We are in urgent need of a FULL TIME TEACHING ASSISTANTS to join a SEN school in BODMIN

Due to the nature of these children at the school it is ideal for applicants to have previous experience in UK SEN schools/ alternative provisions/ transferable skills working with behavioural needs.

Responsibilities
  • Guide students as a Teaching Assistant, offering personalised guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop comprehensive support plans.
  • Foster a nurturing environment that promotes improved social interactions and communication skills.
  • Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and implement effective interventions to address behavior challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements
  • Effective communication abilities to ensure clear interactions
  • Applicants holding a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle will be prioritised.
  • Demonstrated Patience and Empathy along with flexibility and adaptability
  • Dedication to the Success of Students
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
  • Please be advised that this role requires strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection or willingness to take a course on safeguarding that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
