Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support a specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit in the Blandford Forum area from October 2026. The roles offer full-time and flexible opportunities to work with primary-aged pupils who require additional support due to social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Successful candidates will have experience as Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants, with a calm, patient approach and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
  • Experience in SEMH, SEN, PRUs or alternative provision.
  • Calm, resilient and patient professional.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children needing extra guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support and assist small groups.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through routines and reinforcement.
  • Help pupils regulate emotions and stay engaged in learning.
  • Support teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions.
  • Build trusted relationships to help pupils thrive socially and academically.

We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to support a specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit in the Blandford Forum area from October 2026.

This specialist provision supports primary-aged pupils who require additional support due to social, emotional and behavioural needs. Staff work together to provide a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve success.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants who enjoy building strong relationships and supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small classes.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour through consistent routines and positive reinforcement.
  • Helping pupils regulate their emotions and remain engaged in learning.
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions.
  • Building trusted relationships that help pupils thrive both socially and academically.
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants.
  • Individuals with experience in SEMH, SEN, PRUs, alternative provision, youth work or residential care.
  • Calm, resilient and patient professionals.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children who need additional guidance.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
