Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for Behaviour Support Workers to support pupils across Ossett and Wakefield in both primary and secondary schools. The role focuses on helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and access education with tailored support plans.

A calm, patient, and resilient attitude, plus excellent communication skills, will help you build strong relationships and promote wellbeing for learners with SEMH needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, or similar settings.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour support plans
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and positive decision-making
  • Help pupils successfully access learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive

Milk Education is working with a number of supportive and inclusive primary and secondary schools across Ossett and Wakefield who are looking to recruit dedicated Behaviour Support Workers.

Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring, or residential support, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour support plans
