Job summary

Milk Education is partnering with Ossett and Wakefield schools to recruit Behaviour Support Workers for flexible start dates or September 2026. This role offers 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs, working alongside teachers and pastoral teams to implement tailored plans.

We welcome applicants with experience in education, youth work, care, mentoring, or related settings, who are patient, resilient, and excellent communicators, and who are passionate about helping young people

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, or similar settings
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in young people’s lives

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour support plans
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and positive decision-making
  • Help pupils successfully access learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive
