Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Behaviour Support Worker for a specialist school in Bradford. The role involves providing 1:1 and classroom support to pupils with SEMH, autism, and complex behavioural needs, helping them to regulate behaviour and engage with learning.

Daily tasks include personal care and manual handling where required. Start date is September, with flexible long-term or day-to-day placements and market-leading rates of pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs, SEMH or additional needs.
  • Confidence providing personal care and manual handling support.
  • Experience working on a 1:1 basis and within a classroom environment.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and effectively manage challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and classroom support to pupils.
  • Help pupils regulate behaviour and engage with learning to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Carry out personal care and manual handling where required.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming specialist school in Bradford that supports pupils across all Key Stages with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), autism, and complex behavioural needs. The school is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

The school is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker for either long-term or day-to-day work starting in September. The successful Behaviour Support Worker will provide both 1:1 and classroom support, helping pupils to regulate their behaviour, engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes, while confidently carrying out personal care and manual handling where required.

The successful Behaviour Support Worker will have:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs, SEMH or additional needs
  • Confidence providing personal care and manual handling support
  • Experience working on a 1:1 basis and within a classroom environment
  • The ability to build positive relationships and effectively manage challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
