Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting Behaviour Support Workers to support pupils across Ossett and Wakefield. The role involves 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, building strong relationships and promoting wellbeing.

You will collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams to implement tailored plans and foster positive behaviour and learning engagement. We welcome applicants from education, youth work, care, sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work or similar settings.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Milk Education is working with a number of supportive and inclusive primary and secondary schools across Ossett and Wakefield who are looking to recruit dedicated Behaviour Support Workers.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential. Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring, or residential support, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour support plans
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and positive decision-making
  • Help pupils successfully access learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive
