Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Tuebrook (L13). This full-time, long-term role starts in November 2026 and offers £14.25+ per hour, depending on experience.

You will work in a classroom, supporting children with behavioural, social or emotional needs, building positive relationships and helping pupils access learning. Experience in education or mentoring is helpful.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with behavioural, social or emotional needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs.
• Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of children displaying challenging behaviour.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
• Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and reduce disruptions.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and conflict resolution.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
